aint no sunshine when she's gone! The large white stallion slowly lifted his head, blinking back sleep as his vision came into focus. It was still night, which was not surprising in the least. Always having been an early riser Sheredon was up and about before the sun every morning. It was sorta a requirement for any lead who had a herd to take care of. However, now that they didn't have a herd to look after, or foals for that matter, it was more of just a habitual thing. Old habits die hard he supposed. He looked up to the sky from his curled position around Night Star and figured it would be about half an hour until the sun started to make it's daily ascend.
Sheredon looked over his mate who was still peacefully sleeping. It was memorizing for the stallion and he found himself slowly tracing the borders of her large black and white patches. His breathing started to slow as his heartbeat quickened; the usual effect she had on him without even doing anything. Sheredon gently put his muzzle to her back inhaling and holding her scent before releasing his breath against her skin. "The sun will be up soon" he whispered in a deep and groggy drawl. If Night Star chose to sleep a little longer he would let her, but he was hoping she would join him for a sunrise breakfast. Perhaps the dawn would try to come close to matching her beauty.
Without another word Sheredon shook his mane then proceeded to stand while looking out to the distance. It was a large and open space, a plain whose end only met the horizon in the distance. It was most befitting to Sheredon. Confined spaces made him nervous more often than not .He liked to see threatening, or perhaps favorable, situations coming from afar rather than being startled upon.
Yawning, the old man planted his front hooves and stretched adding a tail flick for extra dramatization. He concluded with a full body shake then looked back to see if Night Star would arise.
With spring now in full affect the dry grassy plain had turned into lush green grasses that made Sheredon wonder why the lands were unclaimed. He supposed it might have been lack of a water source since he couldn't detect any nearby. For now, the morning dew would suffice as they ate their fill of breakfast, but come noon water would have to be the pair's priority.

He melts my heart on a frozen day..
The now, 'retired' lead mare had been sleeping peacefully in the small meadow with her love beside her. Along the night her dreams were peaceful and relaxing which only helped her get an ever better sleep, even for being in an unfamiliar area. Though of course she trusted her mate with her whole heart, and also knew that he would wake within an instants notice if anything around them had seemed to change at all during the night. Since becoming his mate, this fea enjoyed the life of total comfort and the feeling of security. Even with both of them aged passed many others who wandered alone, there was no doubt in her mind that her handsome love could take down anything.
Though she had gotten a good rest, she was inclined to try to sleep in for once as well. Previously the duties she held as a lead had her getting up rather early, even though Sheredon had always insisted that she sleep longer... However, the stubbornness of the mare never left her, even after filling the void in her heart with the best stag she could ask for. Suddenly, she felt the warm hot air of he beloved inhaling and exhaling across her pelt. He also spoke as well, but Night Star's eyes had remained closed and she didn't quite even take in what he said, being almost dazed in the moment. Although she occurred to still be sleeping, she was not, the mare was more or less trying to force herself to open her lazy eyes and get up for the day, but the spot she was in was oh so comfy and warm. She could feel the rays of the sun reflecting off her black patches, it felt oh so good to be summer again.
Still in her daze the mare could hear her love arise to his hooves, soon she would have to force herself up as well. One of her eyes peaked open as she had caught the end of Sheredons lovely morning stretch, making her heart jump a little. Everything that stag did just made her full of joy. They were so in love, still after going through so many hardships and so many good times, the sight of her mate never ever grew dull. His handsome pelt, warm smile and large frame could make any filly melt, but Night Star was happy to call him 'hers'. Within mere moments her other eye opened as her maw grew wide letting out a large yawn before tipping her neck up and looking to Sheredon. "Good morning dear." her warm voice spoke as she pushed herself to her feet in one flawless motion before stepping so softly over to him.
Night Star then tipped her muzzle to give him a soft morning kiss upon his velvety lips before stopping to take in the scenery. She could tell that Sheredon had been admiring it as well, such a great open space with so much potential... It reminded her of home and got her to thinking for a moment how everyone that was left might be doing now, but particularly Savannah and Caton. Even though grown, a mother would always worry about her children. However, Night Star took her mind off it quickly as she looked to Sheredon before speaking. "Well m'love. Breakfast?" She said with a loving smile before dipping her head to the ground and grabbing a large mouthful of the lucious greens. It felt so nice now that spring had come across the lands as she wasn't quite a fan of winter anyway. In-between bites she managed a few words, curious as to their plans for today. "So what do you have in mind for us today, love?" With a flick of her tail she had easily swatted one of the first flys of the season to pester her, a sure fire sign too that warm sunny long days were here to stay. This life would never get old, spending the rest of her life with Sheredon, no matter where, would leave her to die happy.
