Personality:
Dirk is a friendly guy, the guy everyone seems to want to be friends with, hes outgoing and funny, outgoing and really seems to get along with everyone. He's not easily offended and doesn't take much to heart so hes great to mess around with. Sometimes to him things are almost too much of a joke but he will sure eventually grow up a bit in his mindset. Dirk likes to get down and dirty and all riled up. Dirk is a pretty redneck/country horse, as weird as that seems, he was born a ranch horse and captive until a yearling. He has a country/redneck accent and talks alot of 'darlin's, ma'm, young lassie, and y'alls'. Being born on a ranch is the biggest reason for this.
History:
Dirk's history is quite different from the rest of the wild horses out there. You see, Dirk wasn't always wild, infact he was never supposed to be wild in the first place. This pure hearted guy was born on a large ranch. Dirk was bred out of the highest reining and cow horse lines. His future was to be a show horse and hopefully earn lots of money. He was beloved by his humans not only because of his unique coloring but he was a quick learner, a bit cocky as a youngster, but flashy and had all the catty moves to boot. They all thought Dirk was destined for greatness, until the fire.
Dirk was settled in his stall for the night, happy. He was just becoming a year and a half and the ranchers had brought him in from the large rangelands to start his training. They had only just started putting the saddle on him a few days when everything went south. A large storm rolled in and lightning struck the barn, causing it to catch fire. The ranch hands ran outside as fast as they could and into the barn to just start unlocking stall doors to get all the horses out. Dirk was one of the last ones, but he made it out just fine. However, being so young and scared in the midst of everything, the young colt didn't stop running. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Just straight forever, no turning or wandering, nope he just ran straight for what seemed like days.
At that point Dirk grew thirsty and knew that he was a lost sheep in a huge world. He'd have to begin to fend for himself and figure out this life. Going back wasn't really an option for him. He loved his humans, and probably would have liked his job as reiner, but he was also eager to explore this new world he had landed himself in.
The first equine he came across of course had to be envious. Dirk got a little beating and was kicked into the reality of his situation. Since then he has become smarter and has adapted to the wild life quite nicely.
His lines in reining and cow work help him have quick catty movements in a jam, even though his fighting skills aren't quite perfected yet. Now that he is six years of age he has enough experiences being a loner to make it in this world. Dirk never thinks of going back to the humans as he wanders the lands. He had passed a few herds but never seemed to get the order of things in a herd, so passed up each chance to join instead. Now he slightly longs to try and find a small herd, maybe starting out so he could learn the system and not be surrounded by so many more knowledgeable then himself.
Though he wasn't stupid and knew it probably worked just like the pecking order they had out on the range at the ranch, so he knew he'd end up being a good herd member, or at least he tried. Dirk wasn't cut out for the loner life anyway, he longed for company, for friends and eventually family. He loved treating a lady right and was excited to start this new chapter in his life.
Thus, he came across Pascal's and Tesla's blooming herd..
