I just want to put this out there to remember. This is NOT pointed at any one member, it is just simply posted to be a reminder of this.
When posting, please remember to give enough for the other person to respond. Typically I'm noticing that the person who starts the thread, of conversation ends up being the one who has to keep thinking of things to keep the roleplay going. This ends up getting tiring on whoever that member may be, usually ending in loosing muse.
So, take turns with ideas and conversational pieces.
EXAMPLE: If slade says ok lets play a game! (gets everyone going in the game, then game ends and all members return the the middle of the herd) Ok, so instead of slade having to pick up conversation again to get the next thing going, have another character give something to respond to. Like; Bones mentions how nice it is outside and invites everyone to follow her to the swimming hole.. Thats good, now I would get a break from thinking up something that Slade could have them do next. ect.
Conversations are a biggie. I do see some conversations that are a little one sided. (where one horse is doing all the 'coming up with what to talk about' and the other horse is merely responding but not giving anything back to really 'reply' to. Please keep this in mind, and try to add more so the other person doesn't always have to start off the conversational pieces.
Actions are pretty big too. Ok, lets say (going to use bones and slade again because I love them. xD) FIRST OFF: If your horse 'walks off' into no-wheres-ville.. Don't expect someone to come running to them with a huge reply and a plan of what to do. Unless you already planned something over OOC chat, not many horses who just wander off to 'be alone for awhile' ect actually get responded to. If you want a response, take the initiative to write up something interesting that might catch a few eyes.
So lets say Slade is watching over his herd, and invites bones to join him on a walk. There would be two ways to do that. One, would be not so desirble, but also would depend on the situation of course too! 1. Slade could invite bones on a walk, and then stand there waiting for her. 2. Slade could invite Bones on a walk and then start walking off, trotting, or being playful with her.
1. Doesn't give Bones much to reply to. I mean she can say 'ok Slade lets walk, I'm ready to go." but then has to wait for a Slade reply yet again before they even get moving. (or of course she could head off first too, but like I said, depends on the case, if Slade were leading her to say 'his secret fave place' then Bones couldn't start walking until he did, cause she has no clue where to find his secret fave place lol)
2. More desirable. You can ALWAYS go through a post in stages, so your character starting to walk away isn't going to mean they are walking alone. EXAMPLE:
Now that Slade had invited Bones on a small walk around the land boarders he smiled softly and began to head off. The trees were now greening up really nicely and long lush grass was beginning to sprout. His pace was almost a quick walk as he covered the land, everything seemed so peaceful.
That post doesn't mean he left Bones before she replied back. Because Bones can reply like this: The mare nodded towards Slade's invitation to walk with him. As he stepped off she stayed right beside him, tail swishing at her hocks as small annoying flys began to bother her hide. As they walked she looked between the scenery around them, all green and gorgeous, but also looked to Slade a little as well. The way his pelt grabbed the suns rays made him look like his black coat was shining, glimmering in the sun. Bones then smiled and nipped at Slades neck playfully before swishing her tail and taking off a a smooth gallop over the smooth terrain.
ect ect ect, xD I think you guys all get the point now. But incase you missed it, moral of the story, is be considerate and keep conversations/actions going on both sides of the roleplay, not just one.
