{Azir} Never Leave Me Azir breathed in deeply, his little sides expanding into a big round bubble before he let it all go in one slow motion. He opened his eyes, in that moment, experiencing a small wave of panic as he quickly jumped to his feet from his curled up position. Had he really fallen asleep? He looked around for the larger leopard appaloosa that usually accompanied him and felt frightened when he could not see her. Azir peaked his head from the thicket he had buried and hid himself in, but dared not take one step forward. “Mom?” he whispered in a squeaky raspy tone, which of course made is voice louder than he had intended. /oops/ he thought while realizing the folly of his ways and dug back into the safety of the greenery. By now it was dark, as the last bit of dusk descended somewhere in the distance through the trees. The forest was eerily quiet as most critters had already made their way home and laid themselves to sleep. Azir felt like he was the only one up as he tried to remember the light when he had entered the thicket to hide. He counted silently in his head and felt his throat go hard at the realization that it had been 8 hours since they had separated. His mom had never taken that long before. Knowing the time based on the position of the sun had been his first lesson once he was able to understand. Vixen, his mother, had always told him that mental strength and strategy was an important first part of his “training” until he would be strong enough to start the second stage; the physical part. He was practically a pro at it now, always trying to please his strict and stern mama when she tested him on little things like time. The thought of his mom just made him fall even deeper into the sadness inside as Azir wondered if he should go looking for her. Naturally she had told him to hide in the usual spot when a gang of rogue envious stallions had chased them down, so they split up, and he knew not to move from that spot unless he wanted to be forever lost to her. What do I do if it has been too long? He questioned himself, realizing that they had never gone over that part. Mom always returned. He knew he would get in trouble if she found him in a different area, but the fear alone was enough to drive the little appaloosa out of the thicket and into a slightly bigger clearing; the designated safety zone. It was easily marked by two fallen trees that had created an ‘x’ marking on the ground. “X marks the spot” his mom would always call out in case they needed to split up in the face of danger. Azir gave the clearing one last glance and with the flick of his short stubby tail he moved his small little body out of the zone. “Mom!!” he called out uncomfortably, not exactly eager to break the silence surrounding him. This made him vulnerable to predators and all sorts of things that could eat him in a few bites. Azir was so scared he was shaking, a small whinny and whimper combination escaping his lips. “Mom!!!” he called out a second time with the thought of never seeing her again crossing his mind. Azir forced his overly long legs into a sort of hustled trot, which only caused more noisy commotion along the forest floor. His eyes started to well up with tears and his vision became blurry as he crashed through the forest fauna. “MOM!!!!” he finally screamed in a high pitched voice, abandoning all teachings due to desperation. He was too small, too young, too fresh, and too scared to figure out what to do. Al he could think of, all he could do and say was “Oh no, she’s not here”.

Bones was eating grass, enjoying the feel of Slade’s touch, when he stopped and his words directed her to something she hadn’t even noticed. If a horse could have blushed the mare would have been bright red, and she didn’t even know what to say. Her saving grace only came when she thought she heard someone, her listening devices perked up as she strained to hear it more. Then there it was again, the voice of a horse, but a bit louder.
“Do you hear that Slade.?” She asked him, blue eyes glancing up at him momentarily. She didn’t really wait for an answer before she started forward, headed off in the direction in the distressed call. She hoped nothing was wrong, and she probably knew this was something Slade should be handling but right now she was only concerned for the equine who was calling out.
When the mare got closer she heard the call again, and that’s when she finally understood what was actually being said. Mom, someone was calling out for their mother. It seemed not even a minute after Bones had figured this out though she walked into a clearing and her eyes landed on that of a little dark spotted colt, the poor little guy looking like he was in panic mode as he searched for his mother who he had obviously been separated from. Her heart instantly broke for him, she could only imagine how scared the little guy was.
Bones took a few steps forward and dipped her head down a little bit, not trying to seem too intimidating or anything to the scared colt. “Hey… did you get separated from your mother? Do you need help finding her?” She asked him, her voice soft and curious. The last thing she wanted him to do was get scared, because then he would run off and if he ran off and something happened to him Bones would feel bad forever.
The brindle mare glanced around then, searching for any other equines in the area but there wasn’t even a scent of anything left over. He had obviously been away from his mother for quite some time and had just realized it, because no other horse had been here but him recently. Her heart sank for the poor little colt, she could only imagine how scared and terrified he must be without his mom and she hoped that they could find her.

Hey there little guy...
Bones had all but pretty much ignored anything that Slade had said, though he didn't mind it either actually. She had seemed rather interested in munching on the grass and probably had a million things on her mind anyway, especially after she had picked up her head and saw Slades little manhood mishap. He smiled crookedly back at her as she then picked her head up once again, this time her ears seemed to perk up. Slade took notice in her new stance and then directed his attention to the way she was looking. However, he stayed quiet until she spoke up. /"do you hear that Slade'/ then irrupted out of the mare as Slade twitched his black ears and slightly tossed his forelock about. He didn't hear anything actually, but trusted that Bones did. However before he could make a move, Bones was off, walking through the random woods like she was on a mission. Slade didn't question her and followed quickly behind.
As they moved into the woods, thats when Slade heard it, a youngsters cry for his mother. Listening devices swiveling atop his crainium as he followed Bones the last couple steps into the woods. Suddenly the forest opened up into a clearing, and there was the little noisemaker. A small appaloosa colt whom seemed to be quite lost, something obvious from him calling out 'mom!'. Slades heart sunk a little bit at the sight, but he hung back to let Bones deal with it. He almost wanted to watch her to see how she handled the situation, and how she tried to comfort the lost foal. He watched as Bones dipped her head down a bit to look less intimidating towards the little guy. He couldn't be more then 3 months old, scared of course, eyes welled with tears and bodice still sending small shivers out.
The voice of Bones then entered his ears; /“Hey… did you get separated from your mother? Do you need help finding her?"/ But Slade knew better. He knew it would be pretty much doubtful that they would ever find this foals mother. He couldn't even trace much of a scent, only that belonging to the foal.. Eyes softened as he watched Bones try to comfort the colt without scaring him, Slade still frozen in his tracks a few paces from them both. Then, his deep voice sounded. Slowly and comforting "Hey little man, its alright. Thats Bones and I'm Slade. We heard your cries and came to help. Whats your name?" Slade questioned, still remaining at a distance, careful not to rush him too much and scare him even more then he already was. If he was calling for his mother then he most likely didn't have a father around, so in that aspect Slade knew his presence could scare him more then anything, so this was something maybe Bones needed to handle while Slade stood on the sidelines for support if she should need it. It also made him happy inside to see her interact with a foal, something he hoped they would too have someday. Maybe this would be the push she needed to fully commit to Slade, who knew. But right now, the focus was on the lost foal. Twitching his nares the stag lifted his head into the air to try and trace a scent, nothing but the foals came to him, with more effort he marched forwards slowly around the outskirts of the clearing trying to come up with something to help soothe the foals mind. Any reminiscence of his mother..

{Azir} Never Leave Me Azir stood in the clearing sides heaving as he struggled for release. He felt restricted, crushed by the reality of what was happening. His eyes, with the white exposed, darted back and forth with no real purpose. No matter how many times he looked she would not just magically appear out of thin air. He felt like he had been there for an eternity by the time he had picked up on and realized someone's approach. He turned toward the disturbance asking again for his mother. What had took her so long? However the figure that appeared was not his mother but another mare; a stranger.
Azir stood there in disbelief frozen to the very spot where he stood. He was in deep trouble. He had strayed from his designated zone, and now what his mother had forewarned should he do so was happening, someone had come for him. Just standing there looking shocked and lost, it was the mares words that finally kicked his butt in gear. Before the mare could even truly begin her sentence the little colt turned on his hind legs and dived into the nearest bush available. Almost immediately his legs entangled in vine and stems causing him to drop down and curl up in the bush as if the very action would make him vanish from the face of the earth. It was dark and very much possible, right? /React, but stay calm. React, but stay calm/ he repeated over and over to himself in his head as he peered through the leaves now noticing a stallions presence. They were gaining in numbers!
Azir twitched his forelegs as he stared at the others, feeling the bindings wrapped around his legs. He tried to figure out what to do and came up with the plan to run if they got closer, which of course was an action not available to him at the moment. "Please come get me mom" he whispered out loud in prayer. Suddenly the stallions voice interrupted his moment of panic. Azir had to think fast. What would his mom do? What would she say? /If you can't run then you fight and if you can't fight then pretend not to be scared and you won't be. Never give them the satisfaction/. He could almost hear his mother as if she was standing right beside him. Azir took a deep breath and started to stand. His motion was disgraceful even for a foal as he tried to overpower the foliage that had taken a hold of him. He struggled for a bit then finally freed himself. "I'm Azir" he addressed the mare called bones seeing as Slade was now walking about. "She's not lost and neither am I!!" he shouted as if an argue had started between them. The little foal watched the stallion wearily. He didn't want to be circled, in case he had to run. "You guys should leave soon. My mom will be here soon and she doesn't like strangers talking to me". Lies were okay as long as they were important for survival. Anything goes when your trying to survive, it was just another saying his mom always brought up.

Bones watched the little colt, trying to hide the sadness in her eyes but she felt terrible for him. His mother's scent was no where, not even barely, they weren't going to find her. It was also clear by how scared he was that he hadn't been with her for a while either, and she only wished the young horse would trust them. But then he ran into a bush, and when he came out to talk to them it was clear that the Azir was a very defensive little guy. Bones glanced over at Slade, who was searching around the area, before she guessed he wanted her to take care of this. He had only said a bit before starting his search around, and she wasn't sure how she felt about that. He was the one with foal experience, she didn't have experience with anything. But if he was only looking for his mother he probably didn't have a father with him, and Slade could be a bit intimidating due to his large size. So it was up to her, and that made her nervous. "I'm sure you're not lost Azir, but it might be best if Slade and I stay here with you for a bit. It's getting dark and there's so many predators around, we don't want you to be hurt," She told him in a soft voice, trying to comfort him. If he would just allow them to stay with him she would feel better, though if his mom didn't know up she didn't know what they would do with him. Bring him back to the herd she supposed, if he would even go. He seemed like a stubborn little thing, but maybe he just needed some time to trust them. "I know you're mom wouldn't want you talking to strangers, but I know if I had a foal and I got separated from them I would want someone to help them out and keep them safe. That's all we want to do. Do you have a herd Azir, or is it just you and your mother.?" She asked him, hoping that if she got the little colt talking he would be distracted and not so focused on fighting their help. She couldn't just leave him, there were big predators and envious equines everywhere and he was a weak target. If they left and Bones found out something happened to him...well she would feel terrible forever.
