A Shattered heart A broken soul It had been weeks, Safi had stalked and lingered around the herd that belonged to the Stallion they called Slade. After a while it became more than clear that Asira had not been here, nor was she residing with them. Safi sighed at the thought. Of course Asira wouldn't be in the first place she looked. That would have been too easy, and easy wasn't exactly the catch phrase of her life.
Safi continued on, seeming to be led by the sloping landscape that only ushered her along the easiest routes. There was a howling wind ripping at her long white mane sending it swirling about her face and neck. A courtesy of the white capped mountains that trapped her on both sides. It was partly blinding, but nothing the little white mare wasn't used to. She glanced up at the sky that was dense and grayed by the threat of rain. A small storm was brewing on the horizon, but it didn't seem to be that much of a big deal that would cause her to stop her travels and bunker down for the evening. Besides, even if she wanted to, shelter wasn't exactly abundant in this area. If anything every nook and cranny was occupied by small critters or large mountain carnivores.
It was only several hours later that Safi found herself deeper into the valley and mountainous terrain, where a change in scenery could easily be distinguished. The valley had narrowed even more further guiding her into it's depths. A chain of cave outlets could clearly be seen on the ridges above, but she dared not go near them. For some reason she found herself wanting to stay away from the caves as much as possible.
The chilly wind and dry mountain air was enough to make one parched, but add in a three day journey and you had one thirsty mare. It was also the perfect excuse to turn away from the caves and head down some winding worn down path. Eventually she should hit water, most paths created by native mammals almost always led to one.
Eventually Safi learned her hunch had been right, she had stumbled upon a small lake that was rocking and churning with the strong wind. Almost as soon as she reached the shore the dense clouds let loose a misty drizzle that spotted her white coat darker as she lowered her head to drink. As she quenched her thirst she decided she would rest here. The open space provided comfort, even if the rain spittle did not. made by abby of i'm so curious tagged: music: outfit: notes:

you think your only crime is that you got caught oh how the mighty fall in love Upon hearing a shuffling of hooves somewhere off in the distances, it was enough to stir Pascal from his satisfied stupor as he watched his mate dart through one of the various ponds in the area. The stallion's ears pricked in interest, curious as to what a new equine might bring to the table in the pair's new home-to-be. Pascal stood just a little straighter, chest puffed forward slightly more as he listened for further indications of the unfamiliar being's whereabouts.
Tesla herself had halted in her frivolous dancing in the pond, coming to stand knee-deep in the transparent blue water. Her coat settled finally, set with constellations of water droplets that left patches of her pelt darker than the base. Her mane and tail pulled her heavily towards the ground, weighed down and completely soaked with water. She slowly waded forward, pushing through the pond with surprisingly forceful strides. Coming to stand beside Pascal at his left flank, she lowered her snout and let her ears fall forward in comfortable ease.
"You smell her too, right?" The grey mare asks her lead outright, scenting another equine milling about between the mountainous lands, the smell made more potent by the drizzling rain. The lands were already chilling in temperature, leaves crumbling underfoot, and waters turning cold. Winter wouldn't be too far off.
Pascal startled slightly, having missed the obvious breeze of scent altogether. He nodded though anyway with a clearing of his throat, too proud to admit he'd been distracted in his own head. "We should go then," the lead announced determinedly, already moving forward and tracking the new equine by nose. Tesla moved to protest, afraid they might scare the newcomer away by showing up together, but had no choice but to trail behind her mate at a slow trot.
However long they traveled, it wasn't terribly long before a flashy white mare stood in their midst at one of the many watering holes the lands had to offer. Tesla took an immediate step closer to her mate, who was essentially smaller in height than herself. The difference in stature was often lost in the mare's submissive stance and matching personality, a stark contrast to a bold and (debateably) pretentious stallion.
Pascal, however, slunk a step forward. His mug smiled placatingly, eyes soft and pointedly careful as his natural charming self. Pascal tipped his head in contemplation, or perhaps in appreciation, but nonetheless the lead stallion was not threatened by a new face. Tesla, regaining her sweet composure, smiled shyly up at the white mare, who had not yet noticed them.
"I'm impressed," Pascal began to break ice, "I wasn't sure much of anyone would be able to navigate their way through the mountains."
