Words: 303 Notes Ryder gains another member, he's quite intrigued. Your message here
Ryder watched the mare in amusement, she was quite confident of herself and what she all wanted. He didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but he wasn’t going to push the mare away from the herd. Just because she was…sure of herself didn’t mean that she needed to be denied a place in the herd already. He listened to her intently, he really didn’t find her scary but he didn’t find much scary. He was quite larger than almost everyone, so it took a lot to make him scared. Before he could even respond to what she had said she started to nudge away the snow and make herself at home, which it looked like she needed because she didn’t have a lot of extra weight. And then she started to speak between chews, and her words quite surprised him. He cocked his head to the side as he listened to what she had to say, an amused little grin on his face. Lead mare? She was already talking about that? That was quick, it was clear what that mare wanted. “Well…It’s a pleasure to meet you Charity. You, of course, can stay here and make this place your home. I just recently made this place my own, and the only other herd member we currently have is Asuna,” He said before glancing at the other mare with a smile on his face as he looked at her. “I am hoping for more to come, but this is already a wonderful start. For lead mares though…there is no such thought at the moment. I am not completely worried about it as of right now,” The stallion said quietly, hoping that would quiet that kind of talk right now. “You should make yourself at home. All caves are open besides the biggest cave, which is mine. Of course eat up, winter is fast approaching and the grass won’t be around for much longer. I feel the winter is going to be a bad one,” Ryder said easily as he watched her. She was a beautiful mare, but he didn’t know what to take from her attitude just yet. He could only hope that Asuna and Charity would get along, the last thing he needed was for the two to not like each other and to not get along. His dream was to have a herd so close they were all like family, a big friendly community that welcomed all. /div] template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

Charity bobbed her head a little and looked around. "Another mare, I suppose I'm a bit too late. Well, that's okay. A cave sounds warm and welcome, and I'll certainly help myself to the grass. I'll stay." She walked a few steps away and began to munch on the grass, as other horses started to arrive. This was quickly becoming a real herd, and the idea of it began to grow on her, lead mare or no. Perhaps she could still find a good mate and settle down. Even if it wasn't Ryder. Surely there would be more stallions joining soon, or perhaps even a passing visitor would do, if she could convince him to settle down. Perhaps she was a little hormonal..although in her mind, that didn't seem too bad. She was just a good brood mare, that was all. She could at least offer that to the herd. Adorable little colts and fillies..it wouldn't be long. Spring time, and the spring would be full of love-struck couples, she was sure of it. And then, a little while later on, little foals chasing each other and nursing from their mothers. It was going to be amazing. Maybe these were big dreams for one horse and one currently small herd, but her imagination kept her happy enough.

Beautiful as the Moon.

Asuna smiled to herself as Ryder touched her muzzle, taking in the weird and strange affection that she had never really had before. She looked back up to him as he spoke, /'"...You are completely safe within my herd, I promise,”'/ And for once, the mare believed the oddly comforting stallion. She had never met such a gentleman, as Ryder was, and it was comforting yet weird. She had never really been this close to anyone, and even though there were many other stories she'd have to tell and the fact that they didn't really know each other very well, she felt truly happy. The happiest that she had been for a long time. /"'...And if you ever need to talk about anything Asuna, or even need anything, I will always be here for you,”'/ "Thank you Ryder. That means a lot." The mare stated, looking up to him with a genuine smile. Soon, a scent of another equine filled her nostrils, and just as fast, Ryder spoke and was off to investigate. She stood off in the distance, hovering just close enough to hear their conversation but trying to keep herself busy by pushing the snow around in search of some grass. She shook her fluffy coat, snow and dust releasing into the air like a cloud around her. The sun glistened on her coat, the silver dapples even more prominent in the winter months. The scar on her shoulder almost invisible by the heavy coat of fur surrounding. She eyed Ryder and the new mare that had just appeared, finally noticing all of the little scars Ryder had on him, and the way his coat shined in the sun rays. She wondered where he had gotten the numerous scars from, and where he had come from. The mare's grey blue eye's moved to the new mare. She was bigger, a gypsy she presumed, with a pretty liver chestnut coat, and she seemed confident right off the bat. Jealousy hit Asuna like a truck as she listened. 'Who is this mare? Running right in here expecting to be the lead mare right away?' She thought to herself, anger starting to rise as she listened, and by this time, stared at the two. It was true, she didn't like other mares. She simply just didn't get along with them, but she actually liked Ryder, and she felt the pang of jealousy and attitude kick in immediately. /'"..I would say that I'm the best of both worlds."'/ Asuna rolled her eyes and shook her head, immediately making her way over to barge into their conversation. Forgetting about everything that had just happened, she turned on her acting skills once more to speak to the new mare. "Hello, I'm Asuna, and you're Charity, I presume?" The Arab mare held a bright smile on her face, almost like it was plastered on there; fake. She stood tall, her small frame trying to become larger in an instant, and her tail lifted. She circled Charity like she was bait, prancing around in 'fake' happiness while her acting took hold of her again. Stopping to face the mare, she spoke again with a bright smile, "Eavesdropping is rude, but I just couldn't help myself. I just had to introduce myself since Mr. Handsome over here wasn't going to." She turned her head to wink at Ryder jokingly, a smile still plastered on her face, but the obvious game-playing was visible in the glint in her eyes. "You're not thinking of taking my dear Ryder away from me, are you?" She was joking with the mare, true, but already she showed signs of jealousy and possessiveness of Ryder, like he was actually hers to keep. She knew it probably wasn't the right thing to do and the right way to think, but she couldn't help but feel that no one really understood her, but Ryder. And she didn't want to lose him. She had just became friends with him, and he was the only friend she had ever made.

Charity laughed, but it was clear when she met the other mare's gaze, that they both meant business. She watched the horse circle her, not taking her eyes off of the rival mare. "Well..I suppose that's his decision, isn't it? I think you're a mite too small for him, personally." It took a moment, before she did decide to oblige her introduction. Didn't want to seem too rude in front of Ryder..of course, Asuna started it. Before, she had just been messing around a bit. "Yes..I'm Charity. You do have sharp ears. I do too." As she added that, she perked her ears up a little bit. It was a bit of a warning, and a bit of a joke. All she wanted was to settle in for now, but no way was this mare going to back down from a fight. Whether it was physical, or a war of words. "Perhaps you should go settle down in your own cave, hmm? Stay there for a while..." Charity laughed again, but meant it. This was probably why stallions didn't like mares. It wasn't quite as straightforward. If they weren't attentive, it would seem like they got along decently. Well...maybe not, considering both of their comments.

Ryder smiled as Charity agreed to stay in his herd, yet another member! Four members and hopefully more to come, the stallion was so incredibly happy so far. Usually he hated the winter, but it seemed everyone was looking for herds during the harsh time and he happily welcomed them all in. He wondered if any other horses would stumble across, looking for a place to stay, but he had to remind himself that he couldn’t think too far ahead. He had to worry about the members that he currently had, and as Asuna came over, he was beginning to realize that it might be a greater task than he earlier talk.
Though Asuna’s smile was plastered on her face and she seemed to be joking, it was clear there was something beneath her words and actions. It seemed the mare had heard what Charity said and did not like it. He should have known this was going to be a problem, but at the same time he didn’t think Asuna was interested after the whole thing in the cave. And Ryder had no idea that she would be get so jealous and snappy so quickly. Charity was new, and she might be a big outspoken, but Ryder belonged to no one right now.
“Well okay ladies. I was actually just about to introduce you Asuna, and there’s no reason to act like this. We’re all herd members now, and I don’t want any tension. I really hope it’s just the winter bitterness getting to the both of you and there won’t be any problems in the future, especially over lead mare or any such thing,” Ryder said easily, wanting to try and break up the tension between the mares and put it past them all as soon as possible. Two fighting mares didn’t look very welcoming to members looking for a new herd. He tried not to think so negatively though, because then he would be setting his herd up for failure as well.
“Now everyone make sure you get a cave for shelter during the night and make sure you continue to eat a lot. I feel that this winter will not be a good one, and we need to eat as much as we can before the grass is completely dead. And remember, we are all in the same herd now. Let’s make sure we get along,” He said easily before smiling at the two of them. His eyes lingered on Asuna though, his mind wondering where her little outburst had come from. He pushed it back though as he walked off a bit, but still close enough that he could hear the two mares if they decided to go at it again. He just wanted to enjoy his growing herd, he didn’t want to babysit to feuding and jealous mares.

Beautiful as the Moon.
[smear:300377] /"Well..I suppose that's his decision, isn't it? I think you're a mite too small for him, personally."/ Asuna laughed at the mare, feeling the anger rising within her as she listened to her words. /"Yes..I'm Charity. You do have sharp ears. I do too."/ She snorted in surprise at Charity's statement, taking it in as a threat for any future conversations or actions. With her brows raised in question, she let the comebacks stew in her brain while listening to her continue. She paused at a standstill at her remark of going to 'settle' in her own cave, Charity's laugh ringing through her ears as she watched silently. /“Well okay ladies. I was actually just about to introduce you Asuna, and there’s no reason to act like this. We’re all herd members now, and I don’t want any tension. I really hope it’s just the winter bitterness getting to the both of you and there won’t be any problems in the future, especially over lead mare or any such thing."/ Asuna stared at the mare with a big smile on her face, her eyes squinting in a judging character to the mare, as if not paying attention to anything of what Ryder was saying. She quickly jumped out of her relapse and frozen stature and shook her pelt, dust and snow flying off in a hurry to the ground. She began her usual pacing, her tail lifted as her fluffy dappled grey pelt glistened and bathed in the winter's sun rays. "Mmm, just joking around, handsome. Meant no harm at all, and yes, I suppose the cold may be getting to me a bit.. My character is somebody who is smaller in stature and yet who is strong, so to see the conceit flow out of a larger, though weak-minded horse, is interesting. Though isn't smaller better? In stallion terms, of course. Tighter, firmer... And I suppose you will be needing those sharp ears, just as I will be needing mine." Quite pleased with her comeback, she circled Charity once more, stopping though when she was side-by-side with her, her muzzle close to hers. /“Now everyone make sure you get a cave for shelter during the night and make sure you continue to eat a lot. I feel that this winter will not be a good one, and we need to eat as much as we can before the grass is completely dead. And remember, we are all in the same herd now. Let’s make sure we get along,”/ With that, she turned to head back to a cave for some rest, but before doing so, she whispered to Charity, a whisper so quiet so that Ryder could not hear, "All's fair in love and war, my dear."
